Man, my first Austin engagement… Actually it’s my first Texas engagement and will be subsequently my first Texas and Austin wedding in March. =) How freaking exciting. Amanda and Matt flew me out to Austin for a couple days to show me around town, have fun and of course, to take their engagement shots. haha. But honestly, the entire day that we went shooting all three things melded perfectly together. It didn’t really seem like work but also had a sense of seriousness in the day.

We drove all around Austin. From downtown hotels near 6th Street to many, many different kinds of parks (there’s the regular parks to the food trailer parks). I learned tons of interesting facts too. Did you know Whole Foods originated in Austin? Totally did not know that one of my favorite grocery stores started in TX.

Speaking of food, the grub in TX was RIDICULOUS. So good. I can’t wait to go back to Austin to shoot this amazing couple’s wedding, but also to grub it out. =) But enough talk, time for pictures!

Where else in the world are you going to find a longhorn couch in a 5 star hotel, which has won the “Five Diamonds Award” (Ocean’s Thirteen)? Yeah, no where but Austin.

In case you didn’t know where we were. hahaha. =P

Did I tell you how much I love shooting in parking lots? Yeah, one of my favorite locations regardless of what city we’re in.

There was TONS of green and forest-y areas in Austin. I thought TX was all desert. My bad. =P

Blog, it’s been a while. Joanna and Andrew are so cute together. They’re from Hawaii and were back in the bay visiting family when we got together to have this shoot. Both our schedules totally weren’t working together. But there was one day that we were able to have this shoot. It just so happened that this day was one of the prettiest days of the week. It was a pretty gloomy holiday week, full of overcast and rain. But it started clearing up the day before our shoot and in the morning of the shoot, the weather was perfect (albeit a little cold)! We first checked out downtown Palo Alto and then headed to Half Moon Bay for some shots. The light in both locations at that time was incredible! I couldn’t have felt more blessed by God that day. Awesome times! Well enough of me talking here are the pics:

Perfect lighting man. From both sides and enough to light up BOTH of their faces. awesomeness!

There was this lifesaver by the beach, we had TONS of fun with it. haha. =P

Wow what a fun loving couple! Had a fabulous time with Melissa and Jim. They asked to take photos at Santa Cruz Wharf. This place is SUPER special to them. They had their first date here. This is where Jim proposed to Melissa. Special places = heart! =)

Oh man SF is sucha beautiful city. There’s a myriad of different scenes, different textures, different feels all compacted into one city. I love it. What I love more is when a couple wants to go and shoot there. Julia and EddY (sorry man, I know I kept misspelling it EddIE… my bad! haha =P) [...]

What I love more is when a couple wants to go and shoot there. Julia and EddY (sorry man, I know I kept misspelling it EddIE… my bad! haha =P) actually were willing to tackle what the city had to offer head on. They did pretty much everything I asked them to do. What more could I ask for? Julia, Eddy you guys rock! =D

Someone had an clean vespa parked somewhere. heart. haha. SF offers Urban…

SF offers touristy…

I dunno what to call these two. But the light here rocked.

yes the light rocked. haha.

SF offers Naturey… and awesome naturey at that!

we had to stop to do a little fashion in between all the hugging, smooching, lovey doveyness. hahaha.

I can’t tell which of these two post processings I like better. But man this was one awesome scene!

I heart primes. Camera geek alert: I think I’m going to use an all prime kit when I shoot engagements. 24, 50, 60macro, 85, possibly 200. maybe through in a 45 PC-E in there for good measure.

I can’t tell which crop I like on this scene either. I love it.
